Owners of the HTC One XL, the dual-core LTE-enabled brother of the HTC One X, are in for an early Christmas treat, as the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update has finally begun rolling out for it, at least in Taiwan and Singapore.

Along with the usual Jelly Bean goodies – smoother interface, expandable and actionable notifications, Google Now, faster browsing, improved accessibility, offline voice typing, resizable widgets that automatically make space for new widgets, and faster overall performance; the update also brings the new Sense 4+ UI, enhancements in camera UI and performance, power management improvements, and also an event/map view in the Gallery app.

The update is quite huge at 657.98 MB, but the improvements and new features should be worth it. As for the AT&T variant of the One XL in the US, the update might take a few more days, or even weeks, as AT&T works on approving the update, but hopefully the rollout will be complete for all One XL’s before this year ends.

Be sure to mash that Check Now button in the Software Updates menu in your phone’s settings if you can’t wait for the update to show up itself. The update process is gradual though, so don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t show up on your One XL for a day or two.
