Japan Display Inc. (JDI), which is the leading global manufacturer of small and medium-sized LCD panels, started its operations in April 2012. It usually provides display panels for Sony and is a joint venture of Sony, Hitachi, and Toshiba.
Through a press release dated June 19, JDI has announced that it has started working on the mass production of a FULL ACTIVE LCD display.
The USP of the FULL ACTIVE LCD display is a slim bezel design on all four display sides. The new display has an aspect ratio of 18:9 for smartphone devices.

In simple words, JDI is working on new 6-inch bezel-less displays, which has a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. The new LCD display also uses JDI’s Pixel Eyes technology, which gives better levels of black and makes it easy to operate the device even with wet fingers.
As mentioned above, Sony sources the display from JDI, so we might see a bezel-less device using this LCD from Sony in near future.
Meanwhile, as per a recent report, Vivo will be the first OEM to launch a full bezel-less smartphone, known as Vivo X11.
