Intex is tagged to be an underdog in the Android market, but looking at the recent turn of events we seriously believe that Intex is far better than that. Just a few weeks before, the Intex company has bombed India with the FireFox Smartphones which are priced at under $35 which is a revolution of sorts which aims on bringing smartphones to every corner of the world. Google launched Android One in India to take over its competitors in the budget section. But looks like Intex is not going to trim a notch in the cut-throat competition.

It’s just a day after the launch of Android One, and Intex makes its move by launching Intex Aqua T2 running on KitKat OS and priced it at a ridiculously low tag of INR 2699 which falls under the sub-$50 category. Yeah you heard it right!!! It’s just priced at INR 2699. The tiny pebble looking device comes with the minimal hardware package that any company could possibly come up with these days, but of course cost cutting is the main factor here.

The Aqua T2 runs on a 1.3 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6571 processor coupled with a 256 MB Ram module but we wonder if there’s any GPU embedded at this price tag. It comes with a 3.5 inch display bearing a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The device packs a 2 MP rear shooter with LED Flash which offer pretty good features like Panorama, HDR and Continuous shot. Intex also provided a 0.3 MP front facing camera which in our opinion is just for namesake.

There’s a 512 MB internal storage provided onboard but you can expand it up to 32GB using a microSD card. However we are disappointed to see that this dual sim device doesn’t support 3G, however basic connectivity options like WiFi, bluetooth are present. The device also sports a 3.5 mm Audio jack and FM radio for music and entertainment. Aqua T2 runs on the KitKat OS out of the box which is a greater advantage of this device. A 1300 mAh battery is coupled to this device which would easily suffice the needs of this device.

The device is exclusively available on Flipkart. Even though the price tag wonders us a bit, looking at the hardware of the device it is plausible to launch such devices. But the 256 MB RAM really bothers us as KitKat is designed to run on devices that sport 512 MB RAM or more. It’s a wonder how Intex managed to get KitKat run on this device, but it’s a safe bet that this device is no real threat to the Android One program.
