Indian manufacturer Intex announced the launch of an entry level Android smartphone priced at Rs 7,444 on Tuesday. This new smartphone in the Aqua lineup is called Aqua Speed and it is available via the online retailer eBay India exclusively.
Like the other smartphones launched in this segment, this Intex offering is fueled by Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system and it is claimed to be upgradeable to v5.0 Lollipop. However, a specific time frame for the update remains unknown.
The device boasts of a 4.5 inch IPS display carrying a qHD screen resolution of 960×540 pixels. Powering the smartphone is a 1.3 GHz quad core MediaTek MT6582 processor that has been a part of many entry level and mid range smartphones launched in the market. This processor is supplemented by Mali 400 graphics unit and 2 GB of RAM for superior performance in the class.
The Intex Aqua Speed bundles an ample 16 GB of native storage space that can be further expanded by another 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card. Imaging requirements of the users will be taken care of by an 8 MP main camera sensor accompanied with LED flash and a 5 MP selfie snapper up front.
Other goodies of the Intex smartphone include connectivity options such as 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and dual SIM functionality and a 1,700 mAh battery to energize the device.
Apart from these hardware aspects, the Aqua Speed comes packed with camera centric features such as Live Photo, panorama and gesture capture mode. The highlight of the device’s design is the sandstone finish at its back that will resist smudges and fingerprints.
