The Samsung Galaxy J5 (J500H) is finally receiving the much awaited Marshmallow 6.0.1 update with software build PG2. But as is the case with software updates, you might be concerned about root access on Galaxy J5 after installing the Marshmallow 6.0.1 OTA update to your device.
Well, thanks to developer ganesh varma over at xda, a new version of TWRP recovery is already available for the Galaxy J5 running on Marshmallow 6.0.1 PG2 firmware.
The new TWRP recovery is reportedly working fine for the Galaxy J5 on Marshmallow, and flashing the latest SuperSU zip from TWRP’s install menu gets your J5 rooted too on the 6.0.1 update.

Instructions to Install TWRP and Root Galaxy J5 on Marshmallow 6.0.1
- Install TWRP Recovery using Odin.
└ Get the TWRP recovery .tar.md5 file from the download link above. - Boot into TWRP recovery and take a full backup (optional) from the recovery options.
- Flash SuperSU zip from TWRP recovery.
