Xiaomi has sent out press invites for an event that will bring the new Redmi 5 and 5 Plus in India in what would be the first smartphone release in the market this 2018.
Xiaomi has a massive following in India and most are expecting a new phone to succeed the impressive Redmi Note 4. While the press material doesn’t confirm that indeed the Redmi 5 and 5 Plus will be the phones launching on Valentine’s Day, we do believe this will be the case.
The Redmi 5 and 5 Plus have been selling in China since last year and were recently unveiled in Malaysia, another market that Xiaomi is doing pretty good. Although we still don’t know details of the pricing in India, we don’t expect major differences compared to the pair’s prices in China.
Thus, you can expect to buy the Redmi 5 from INR 8,000 while the Redmi 5 Plus should start at INR 10,000, which are not bad prices for phones that bring you the new 18:9 design, a premium-looking build, great performance, decent photography and impressive battery life.
