Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich has been unofficially available for the HTC Droid Incredible 2 in the form of custom ROMs such  as CyanogenMod 9 and MIUI 4 , for almost 9 months now. But there had been no word on the official bump-up from HTC for all this while. While HTC hadn’t explicitly denied an update for this device, there was no confirmation either, leaving anxious users in the dark.

One of Droid-Life’s readers decided to shoot a query to HTC on Twitter, and was surprised to receive a prompt response which threw some munch-needed light on the update. Again, the reply doesn’t really confirm anything, but it does give users some much-needed hope that there could indeed be an official Ice Cream Sandwich update in the works at HTC. Here’s the official Twitter response from HTC :

Pretty unusual for a big ticket OEM to actually provide specific reasons for the delay in an update, especially when they involve problems or issues with core functions in the software. HTC seems to be getting pretty transparent these days. For now, it has indeed infused hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel for the Droid Incredible 2. Only thing HTC missed out on telling us, is when that tunnel is expected to end.
