Huawei is rolling out new updates for the flagship Huawei P20 and Mate 9 handsets that install the latest Android security patch for the month of September 2018.
It’s only this week that Google started rolling out the same update to the Pixels and it was picked up by Essential Phone, too. OnePlus, on the other hand, rolled out an update with this month’s patch a week to the end of August, but this was targeting users of OnePlus 6 in China.

Still, the fact that Huawei and Google are rolling out the same update on the same week is a big deal and while the update is confirmed for model EML-L09 of the P20 and MHA-L09 of the Mate 9, other variants of these two phones should also receive the same update.
Owners of the P20 should watch out for update version 8.1.0.133(C106CUSTC106D001) while those on the Mate 9 are receiving an update with software version 8.0.0.368(C605). The former is based on Oreo 8.1 and the latter has Oreo 8.0 installed.
These are OTA updates, which means it’ll take several days before the download notification shows up on your phone, so be patient.
