Earlier this year, Huawei, through the official Chinese forums, confirmed that EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo will arrive at some point this year for Honor 8 Lite, but there was no mention of any dates.

Just before we lose you, Honor 8 Lite is just another name for Huawei P9 Lite 2017 in other markets, which is actually the device in question here. The same device also goes by the names Huawei Nova Lite and Huawei GR3 2017 in other markets.

Now, a member of the XDA forum, Coolyou, had a conversation with Huawei support regarding Oreo status of the P9 Lite, which went as you can see in the screenshot below.

Apparently, Oreo will be rolled out to Huawei P9 Lite 2017 (Honor 8 Lite) users in Q3 2018, somewhere between July and August.

The P9 Lite 2017 arrived with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, so it makes sense to see Huawei giving it an Oreo treat, but it’s likely to be the one and only major OS upgrade the phone will receive, just like many other midrange Android phones.
