Huawei is rolling out new software updates, in beta, for the Honor 9 and the Honor 8 Pro (aka Honor V9 in China). Looks like today is a good day to release Android Oreo beta updates. Samsung released their first Oreo beta for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ as well today.

The Android 8.0 Oreo beta update for the Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro is rolling out as we speak. Huawei has its own ROM for its devices, and this is EMUI 8.0. Both of these smartphones were released earlier this year.

The firmware version for the Honor 9 Oreo beta update is STF-AL10 8.0.0.315(C00), while the firmware for the Honor V9/Honor 8 Pro is DUK-AL20 8.0.0.315(C00).

As per earlier reports, the Honor 8 Pro is set to receive the Android Oreo update by the end of this year. And it looks like that could soon happen, as the beta update is now out. The Honor 9 should also see the update by the end of 2017. The Honor 6X should also be updated to Android Oreo very soon.

We will let you know when the update is out of beta, and available for end users. You probably don’t have to wait that long for that to happen. Other manufacturers such as OnePlus and Nokia are also working on updating their high-end smartphones by the end of 2017.
