February 02, 2019: Following its launch in December 2018, Huawei Nova 4 is now receiving its first software update that bumps the software version to EMUI 9.0.1.147.

According to the brief changelog, this update tags along optimizations to the wide-angle AI camera effect and makes the colors more vivid when capturing scenes like the blue sky. Although not mentioned, the update should also iron out any kinks in the initial software as well as improve general system stability.

So far, we know the OTA is rolling out to model numbers VCE-AL00 and VCE-TL00, the Chinese variants and being airborne, it will take some time before all units get the nod to download the update.

Huawei Nova 4 Android Q update

  • Eligible for Android Q update
  • No official release date, yet

Huawei Nova 4 made its debut pre-installed with Android 9 Pie and EMUI 9.0 on top. This means buyers of the phone are only concerned about the upcoming Android Q update, which the device is eligible.

As for when Android Q will arrive, we are potentially looking at a Q3 or Q4 2019 release date, much like it happened with EMUI 9.0, where the first Huawei device got it in Q4 2018.

On the other hand, things could easily change if Huawei decides to take part in the early beta program of Android Q, unlike last year where the company had to wait until September to begin beta testing Pie.
