Huawei Maya (MYA) has been in rumors now for some time, but today, we got closer to its release thanks the device’s appearance at the Wi-Fi Alliance. As you can see in the above screenshot, many variants of the device have made it Wi-Fi certification agency. Now, the amount of verifiable information on this device is minimal, but we do know that the Huawei Maya is expected to ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.

By expanding on that sliver of information, we can take an educated guess and say that this could be a budget device, given the older version of Android. This claim can be further supported by the fact that Huawei has a very clean record of delivering timely Android updates to its devices, so if it’s still Marshmallow, it’s got to be a low-budget offering from Huawei.

Building on that, this could be Huawei’s take on the ultra budget market, similar to what Motorola did with the Moto E back in the old days. Again, if this happens to be true, then the device may retail around the $100 to $120 range.

But please do take this with grain of salt as it’s still too early to tell. Given that the device has just cleared WiFi certification, the Maya may end up with a release date in the coming month or two.
