A new software update has been released for the Chinese variants of the Huawei Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Pro. The update is available as an OTA and brings several performance improvements to the smartphones.

The software version for the Mate 9 is MHA-AL00C00B173, whereas the Mate 9 Pro and the Porsche edition gets LON-AL00C00B173. If you’re in China, you should probably install the new update. A previous update had brought camera improvements to the Mate 9.

The update brings performance improvements and stability, improved battery life, activates 4G by default for China Mobile SIM cards, removes the 4G Toggle in the Quick shortcuts, and improves touch performance when selecting the icons in the Notification panel.

Before installing the update, make sure the device has more than 50 percent charge and is connected to a stable WiFi network. If you haven’t received the OTA notification yet, then you can check for it manually via Settings > About phone > System updates.
