June 07, 2019: Honor 7X has a new EMUI 9.1.0.113 update rolling out to the Chinese variants of the device with a number of improvements and bug fixes.
You must be coming from EMUI 9.1.0.110 in order to receive the latest OTA update. Once installed, your Honor 7X should enjoy improved camera performance and stability for better photo quality in certain scenarios, fixes for issues of static when Bluetooth headphones are used in certain scenarios and WeChat payments occasionally cannot be used when App twin is enabled.
The update also improves system performance and stability, so be sure to grab it once the OTA arrives.
May 10, 2019: Honor India has opened the EMUI 9.0 beta testing program for the Honor 7X. Launched with Android Nougat, the update to Android Pie is the second for the budget phone, which is just some awesome stuff from Huawei.
To join, download Huawei Beta APK and install it on your 7X. Go ahead and log in using your Huawei ID and “Join the project”. Make sure you have EMUI 8.0.0.381 (C675CUSTC675D1) currently installed on your phone in order to get enrolled into the Pie beta program.
April 26, 2019: Chinese variants of the Honor 7X are now receiving a new EMUI 9.1.0.110 update over the air. The rollout started a couple of days ago, but not all eligible models (BND-AL00, BND-AL10, and BND-TL10) have received the download notification, which is nothing unusual.
As part of the update, the Honor 7X is receiving April 2019 security patch, fixes for certain issues in Maintenance mode, and HiVoice optimizations that allow users to use voice commands to take selfies, record slow-mo videos, obtain calorie information, recognize and identify objects, scan QR codes, and search images.
It’s worth noting that you must be coming from EMUI 9.0.1.107/109 to receive the latest OTA.

Honor 7X Android 9 Pie update
- Pie update beta released in China as 9.0.1.43
- Android 9 Pie beta registration begins in China
- The stable release is expected in March/April 2019
- Should be released in Europe and India by April-May 2019
Update [February 11, 2019]: Huawei has released their first Android Pie update in China and it’s rolling out as an OTA update 9.0.1.43. To be eligible, one must have registered their interest for the beta update and must be on 8.0.0.363.
Thankfully, the Honor team is preparing Android Pie for Honor 7X. Right now, those in China can submit their interest in trialing EMUI 9.0 beta on the 7X but note that the slots are limited so hurry if you want to join the party. We expect this to translate to a stable version in China sometime in March or April 2019.
For other regions, including Europe and India, we think the Honor 7X should be receiving Android Pie update sometime on April-May 2019.
Usually, Honor provides only one major software update for its budget phones. Case in point, Honor 6X was launched with Android 6.0 but received only one Android version update to Android 7.0 — that is, no Oreo update for the device. Which is why it was reasonable to think Honor 7X won’t receive the Pie update because it already got its one major update in Android 8.0 as it was released with Android Nougat onboard. But here we are, the Pie update for Honor 7X is legit now, and you have to thank Honor team big time for this.
