Huawei’s Swag phone, which has already garnered a lot of attention owing to its relatively high-end specs in a budget price, has been launched in Australia. Yes, we are referring to Huawei GR5 2017, aka Honor 6X in some regions.

The Huawei GR5 2017, in Australia, will be up for purchase from April 12th, initially via Vodafone carrier priced at $399. It will be later made available in retail stores and via other carriers in the second quarter.

Apparently, the Honor 6X, another moniker for GR5 2017, is available for only INR 13,000 ($199) in some regions. Even in the USA, Honor 6X is available for $249. Given the $399 price tag for the phone in Australia, it makes us wonder why the massive jump in the price in the sunshine country.

Although, the Huawei GR5 2017 launched in Australia does not carry any additional features to justify the massive price difference, it does inherit all that is required to justify its mid-range category status. The dual rear camera phone runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 skin on top. It packs in 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Powered by HiSilicon Kirin 655 octa-core chipset paired with Mali-T830MP2 GPU, the Huawei phone carries 3270 mAH battery.

On the imaging front, the dual rear camera on GR52017 flaunts 12MP + 2MP sensor with phase detection autofocus, LED flash and bokeh effect while the selfie snapper is of 8MP. It sports a metallic finish body with 5.5-inch 2.5D curved display on top and a fingerprint scanner.
