Huawei has already confirmed that its flagship device for 2013, the Ascend D2 would be making an appearance at CES 2013, which is slated to happen in a little over a couple of weeks from now.

While the D2 has made a few appearances in the Android blogosphere by way of leaked specs over the past couple of months, there weren’t any close up pics that were available which actually gave us an idea of what this 5″ 1080p display toting beast looks like up close and personal.

Well, it looks like we won’t have to wait till CES after all, thanks to a set of leaked pics that have surfaced online Have a look at Huawei’s entry to the ever growing list of 5″ 1080 phablets.Huawei-Ascend-D2-iPhone-Galaxy-X-640x364

At first glance, the D2 looks surprisingly similar to iPhone 5 form factor, down to the white color and the metal band along the edges. The plasticy white front is reminiscent of Samsung’s Galaxy devices, and the protruding camera lens on the bears a stark resemblance to the HTC One X. Our friends over at Phandroid found this a bit amusing and have aptly given the unofficial moniker of Iphone Galaxy X to the D2.

Jokes apart, the D2 is no slouch when it comes to the muscle it packs inside the sleek, ivory exterior. The Ascend D2 will come with a 5-inch 1920×1080 Full HD touchscreen, a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor, a 13 MP rear camera, 1.3 MP front-facing camera, 2 GB of RAM, and a 3,000 mAh battery and will hit the ground running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

With the Oppo Find 5 looking to venture into global markets as well, and ZTE chiming in with the Nubia Z5, the 5″ 1080p phablet market is fast heating up, and come 2013, it looks like 5″ 1080p displays will be the new 4.6-4.8″ 720p displays which reigned supreme in 2012.
