Popular leakster OnLeaks has gone ahead and slipped out a few details on an upcoming HTC device, codenamed Alpine. The device is rumored to be called HTC U Play, and could sport a 5.2-inch display.
No other details about the specs are available right now, but consider this as one of the many rumors to hit us. BTW, we’re also hearing that HTC will ditch the 3.5mm jack with this one — like it or not. Well, at least this will make some news because of that only, if nothing else.
From the removal of the headphone jack we can speculate that the device is probably pretty thin. Contrary to the previous rumors, the HTC Alpine may not turn out to be the upcoming flagship, HTC 11.
USB Type C based earphones are pretty short in market right now, so here’s a hoping that HTC would include a Type C to 3.5mm jack converter inside the box to keep it easy — although, charging the device while listening to music at the same time would become a thing of the past if this is the future.
Dongles and jacks aside, there isn’t much else to go on about the HTC U Play as its pretty early. The smartphone could release by the end of Q1. And of course, the HTC U play should be shipping with Android 7.0 Nougat or maybe even Android 7.1.1, as HTC has already begun roll out of its Android 7.0 build for the HTC 10 and One M9 (unlocked variants), while only few days ago, it hit first carrier in USA, as T-Mobile HTC 10 received the 7.0 OTA too.
