HTC to bring Sense 5 to One X, X+, S and Butterfly via update

Current HTC smartphone owners who watched HTC show off their new Android flagship smartphone, the HTC One, were perhaps quite envious of New Sense (or Sense 5) that debuts on the device, and were no doubt hoping they could get a taste of it on their own devices. Seems HTC understands those sentiments, as it has announced that the One X, One X+, One S and Butterfly will be updated to Sense 5 via a software update.

The confirmation came via HTC’s response to a user on their Facebook page, with all but the hardware-specific features of Sense 5 to be made available for the above mentioned devices. The most important feature that the new Sense would bring is BlinkFeed, which is a live feed of a user’s social and other feeds on the homescreen, similar to Windows Phone’s live tiles and the Flipboard app.

Sense 5 also looks much better than previous versions, so users can expect an all-round refreshed interface. Samsung did a similar thing when they announced that the Nature UX would be making its way to the Galaxy S2 and Note via their Jelly Bean upgrades, and it’s nice to HTC following suit.

The update will be rolled out “in the next few months” according to HTC, perhaps a month or two after the HTC One launches.
