So the third model in the One series from HTC is now available in India. Online retailers have started selling the HTC One S in the country at varied rates ranging from INR 33,ooo to 36,157. The HTC One X and One V are already available in India and this kind of completes the manufacturer’s One line-up here.
This smartphone has a dual-core Qualcomm S3 processor running at a frequency of 1.7 GHz with a 4.3″ AMOLED qHD display running the whole show. Other features of this 7.8mm thick device include an 8mp camera with HD recording and stereo audio, a front camera, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, Android 4.0 IceCream out of the box with extensive skinning of the Sense 4.0 UI. The device has a 1650mAh battery that shall give a average usage time.
But there’s a catch — as was eminent, the model being sold in India doesn’t have the latest S4 Krait processor, the one available in certain other countries including the UK, and instead ships with a generation-old S3 which has been over-clocked to compensate for the more advanced processor. Initial benchmarks, though, indicate that it’s still not a match for the Krait but will definitely reduce the efficiency of your battery juice.
Anyways, we expected the One S to be a bit lower in-terms of pricing. But it may well see a price drop soon enough and become more competitive in its segment in the coming months as most high-end devices do.
