How to Upgrade a Unique to a Mythic With the Horadric Cube in Diablo 4

The Horadric Cube gives you control over an existing item’s Mythic upgrade and lets Tuning Prisms steer affix crafting toward your build. Match the recipe name and ingredients before committing materials.

Use Upgrade Direct to Mythic

The direct Mythic upgrade turns an existing Item Power 850+ Unique into its Mythic counterpart. It keeps the item’s identity, affixes and Unique effects, along with its Tempering and Masterworking. You’re upgrading the item you’ve chosen.

Etna’s Lost Dagger provides a concrete example: the inspected input was an Ancestral Unique Dagger at 900 Item Power. That power value describes the example, not an additional eligibility threshold. A desirable affix combination gives you something worth retaining through the conversion.

Season 14 offers same-slot random Mythic conversion. Season 15 offers direct upgrading. Upgrade Direct requires Item Power 850+.

NPC crafting gives you other routes. The Blacksmith offers random outcomes, while the Jeweler’s recipes require sparks and specific runes.

Craft hidden Runewords with ordered rune combinations

Season 15 adds 19 Legacy Runeword recipes, crafted through the Cube. These combinations produce Runeword items.

Choose the Runeword you want. Gather its runes from farming or rune conversions, and obtain the compatible equipment type.

Load the base and add the runes in the recipe’s exact order, then press Transmute. Hidden recipes need no separate discovery, recipe unlock or menu selection after you gain Cube access.

For Enigma, use Chest Armor. Infinity uses the ordered sequence Ber, Mal, Ber, Ist.

Rune conversions can fill gaps in your ingredients. Their requirements vary: the Tir conversion needs no gem, while the higher-tier examples combine rarer runes with specific gems. There isn’t a single ingredient formula to apply across them.

Upgrade Rare gear to pursue Legendary aspects

Upgrade to Legendary gives you another way to pursue an aspect and its higher rolls. Start with an equipment type that can carry the category you want: Crushing, for example, belongs to the offensive category, so its input must support offensive aspects.

Place the eligible equipment in the Cube and select Upgrade to Legendary. An optional Tuning Prism influences the Legendary power’s category. Press Transmute.

Make a Unique weapon from a Common base

Craft Unique produces a random Unique of the input weapon’s type. A dagger craft can produce Condemnation, making this a way to pursue a weapon your build needs without selecting its exact identity.

If it starts as a blue Magic weapon, use the Cube’s Remove Affix operation until it becomes Common gray. With the prepared weapon and required dust loaded, select Craft Unique and press Transmute.

Perform the Ancestral Unique to Mythic conversion

Load the direct-upgrade ingredients

Place one Ancestral Unique and five Resplendent Sparks into the Horadric Cube.

Select the Mythic recipe

Choose Upgrade to Mythic, also described as Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic, for the loaded equipment.

Complete the conversion

Press Transmute to finalize the upgrade.

Choose an NPC service for another crafting route

Use the Blacksmith for its random options, or the Jeweler for Mythic recipes requiring sparks and specific runes.

Build offensive affixes and protect a roll you want

The Cube can add and remove affixes, letting you rebuild gear around a useful starting stat. For Add Affix, load a Magic or Rare item with Coarse Primordial Dust and your chosen Tuning Prism from the consumables tab, then press Transmute. The prism controls the category you’re rolling.

Choose a category for the stats your build uses; a damage multiplier isn’t automatically the right result for every setup.

The completed ring has attack speed. Its additions land a Critical Strike Multiplier, Dexterity and a Physical Damage Multiplier, giving it two multipliers from three additions. At the Occultist, gold-funded enchanting replaces Dexterity with a Vulnerable Damage Multiplier, leaving attack speed and three multipliers. Those are random results, not a guaranteed sequence or a universal ideal stat combination.

A glove example shows how to keep one desirable line while rebuilding the rest. It gains All Damage Multiplier, followed by unwanted Dexterity. The desired multiplier displays +x16% in this example.

At the Occultist’s Enchant Item screen, select the All Damage Multiplier you want to keep, complete the enchant interaction and choose No Change. Its value stays intact, but the line gains the enchanted color. That enchanted status protects it from the Cube’s affix removal.

Return the gloves to the Cube and use Remove Affix repeatedly to strip the unwanted, unenchanted lines. The protected multiplier survives, leaving you free to resume Add Affix around it.

Add a second Legendary Aspect to an amulet

An amulet can gain a second random Legendary Aspect, adding damage, utility or survivability depending on the result. Load your chosen amulet with Volatile Primordial Dust and a Kullean Tuning Prism from consumables, select Transfigure Item and press Transmute. Kullean is a Unique consumable used for this Transfiguration interaction.

Ordinary Transfiguration can instead grant an additional affix or extra Masterworking levels. Entropic Tuning Prism, a Legendary consumable, modifies that operation toward a positive outcome, but its modification lock is part of the deal.

Enchanting, Tempering, aspect application and Masterworking all remain tools for improving your gear. Their place in your crafting process follows the item and operation you’re using; affix rebuilding itself can move between the Cube and the Occultist.

Reroll a Unique item’s or charm’s power

Unique Power Reroll randomizes the numerical value attached to a Unique power. Endurant Faith is an Ancestral Unique Gloves item. Indomitable Faith has a power range of 15–20%, so a low roll gives you room to improve.

Insert the Unique, select Unique Power Reroll and press Transmute. Further attempts can reach a higher value or the maximum, but each is a random reroll, not an improving-only upgrade. The operation also works on Unique Charms.

Adjust numerical affix rolls on equipment and Talisman items

Charms are usable in the Talisman. Enchanted affixes resist Remove Affix.

Convert an Ancestral Unique into a Talisman charm

Converting equipment into a charm lets you use its power alongside gear that would otherwise compete for the same slot. Cowl of the Nameless has an Ancestral Unique Helm form that supports conversion, letting its power accompany an equipped Leoric’s Crown, shown as an Ancestral Mythic Unique Helm.

Season 15 adds Mythic Charms, but this conversion creates the corresponding charm without promising Mythic quality. Its equipment input must be Ancestral; a non-Ancestral version doesn’t meet the recipe’s requirement.

Ingredients consumed by Unique charm conversion

Choose duplicate charms first, then unwanted charms if you need more sacrifices. Paingorger’s Gauntlets is one Unique Charm example. Load the equipment, sacrifices and materials, select Craft Unique Charm and press Transmute; the ingredients are consumed to create the corresponding Talisman charm.

Turn spare charms into missing set pieces

The Cube offers two different ways to work through charm duplicates: 3 to 1 Transmutation generates a random charm, while Reroll Set Charm helps replace spare pieces when you’re assembling a particular set.

Identify your spare copies

Keep track of distinct members as well as duplicates.

Convert unwanted set charms

Load three unwanted set charms and choose 3 to 1 Transmutation. Three identical unwanted copies are a usable example, not a requirement that every input group share one name.

Check the random result

The output can belong to another set: the example moves from Narrow Eye to Blurring Blade, and a further conversion produces a Sightless charm.

Reroll a duplicate from your target collection

Select a spare piece and use Reroll Set Charm, paying Infused Horadric Resin.

Continue toward distinct pieces

Replace further duplicates until you obtain the missing members. Sightless needs five different pieces; supported member names include Phoba, Beru and Mlor, with Mlor completing the example’s set.

Dismantle unwanted charms for resin

Break down charms you don’t need to obtain Infused Heretic Resin.

Amalgamate runes, tributes, sigils and boss materials

Open the Cube’s Amalgamation tab and select a supported group of materials. This operation handles rune upgrades, tribute quality, sigils and boss trophies, but the recipe determines how many inputs it consumes.

A stack isn’t the recipe cost. In the six-Prid example, one rune remains after transmutation. The sigil conversion produces an Escalation Sigil, and the Exquisite Blood conversion produces a Zir Unique.

Boss trophies come from boss kills, and Exquisite Blood is associated with Zir. Once you have the materials, the conversion itself doesn’t require another Zir kill. The separate Splinter recipe includes Splinter of Terror and Splinter of Destruction, both classified as Unique Consumables.

Kurast Undercity supplies Cube materials through Tributes of Ingenuity and lets you select prism rewards through bargains. Its War Plans modifiers add further reward opportunities.

Prepare a Tribute of Ingenuity

Use this tribute for Horadric Cube materials. The example uses a Rare tribute, and Rare-or-higher tributes support attempts at higher-quality prisms without guaranteeing a Kullean drop.

Amalgamate lower-quality tributes in the Cube to raise their quality, including upgrades to Legendary.

Choose a bargain at the Spirit Brazier

Open Bargains and select an available prism reward. The displayed setup charges 1,000,000 gold for Aggressive Tuning Prisms or 5,000,000 gold for Chromatic Tuning Prisms; selecting Aggressive includes those prisms in the run’s rewards. These are the prices displayed for that setup.

Use Finely Tuned and Gutter Filth in The Undercity tree. The displayed Finely Tuned refund cost is 5,734,000 gold in this setup, not a universal account fee.

Activate the Beacons

With Gutter Filth, each Beacon activation has a small chance to summon a Portal Prankster. Activate the Beacons throughout the run for those opportunities.

Their additional chest follows the chosen reward, giving another chest associated with the Cube-material selection.

Collect the material rewards

Undercity supplies Cube materials and prisms. Runs also supply other Cube materials while you pursue your prism goal.

Find material chests in Nightmare Dungeons and Escalations

Materials Reserve is the dungeon affix to seek for special material chests. Saw Blades Elites is a separate affix, not part of the material-farming requirement.

Choose a qualifying sigil

Read your Nightmare Dungeon or Escalation Sigils and use one carrying Materials Reserve.

Open the special material chests

Collect the chests as you progress through the dungeon. Their rewards include Cube materials and possible Khazra runes.

Use Escalations for connected dungeon stages

An Escalation links three dungeons before its final boss, with affix-bearing portals offered between stages.

Add Branching Pathways in War Plans

Follow the center branch of the Nightmare Dungeons tree to Branching Pathways at its end. It adds two Horadric Portals, giving you three transition choices; its displayed refund costs 5,734,000 gold in the example setup, not a universal fixed fee.

Select Materials Reserve when offered

Choose the portal carrying that affix. The extra portals provide more selection opportunities without guaranteeing that it appears.

Collect materials from War Plans, bartering and seasonal rewards

Attuned Primordial Dust is available from Whispers, War Plans and Undercity. Your other Cube supplies can come from route rewards, purchased caches and seasonal objectives, so choose activities around the material you’re spending.

Additional material sources and reward conditions

Keep Scattered Prisms and Tuning Prisms separate when planning purchases. Scattered Prisms serve gear sockets; Tuning Prisms serve Cube operations. The cache’s rune chance also doesn’t guarantee a particular rune.
