Cheers, people! World’s first Galaxy Note 5 root has finally arrived. We informed you of a working TWRP recovery for T-Mobile Note 5 earlier today, but here’s an even better surprise — T-Mobile Note 5 root.
Developer Manh_IT who brought us the unofficial TWRP recovery seems to have succeeded with his test custom kernel with auto-root for the T-Mobile Note 5.
For the unknown, the only way to root Samsung’s 5.1.1 firmware build (which Note 5 also ships with) is to install/flash a custom kernel with root baked-in. Thankfully, Manh_IT has successfully built one such kernel called Noble Kernel for the T-Mobile Note 5.
The kernel has been verified by a number of users to be working and doing its job, however, you may would like to consider a few important things before flashing a custom kernel on your to get root.
First thing, you’ll trip the KNOX counter on your T-Mobile Note 5 by flashing a custom kernel with auto-root, which will void the warranty on your device. We know some of you would pass the loss of warranty issue, however, tripping the KNOX counter may also disable (forever) one of the most exciting feature on your Note 5 — Samsung Pay. Be completely sure of the risks involved before you flash this custom kernel to your T-Mobile Note 5.
That said, rooting is the most fun thing you could do on your shiny new Android device. Let’s get started:
