On PlayStation, approach goal at an angle from your player’s strong-foot side, then hold L2 while pressing Shot to perform a trivela shot.
The angled approach opens up an outside-of-the-foot strike, which gives the ball its curl. On PlayStation, Circle is Shot; on Xbox, B is Shot. Aim for the near or far corner according to the goalkeeper’s position.

Why the approach angle matters
The Trivela is an outside-of-the-foot shot, so the player’s orientation affects how the ball is struck.
A straight-on approach can make it harder to create the intended outside-foot trajectory. Approaching from an angle gives the player more natural body positioning for the strike.
For example, a right-footed attacker cutting in from the right side can create an angle for the outside of the right foot to contact the ball. The same principle can be reversed for a left-footed player approaching from the left.
The angle does not replace the required input, but it can make the shot more natural to execute.
Do you need a specific PlayStyle for a Trivela?
Yes. EA’s FC 27 shooting guidance states that a player needs the Game Changer PlayStyle or Game Changer PlayStyle+ to perform a Trivela shot. Without the PlayStyle, the player attempts a different type of strike even when the Trivela input is used.
This is an important distinction because pressing the correct buttons does not guarantee that every player will produce the same outside-foot finish.
Before attempting the technique regularly, check the player’s PlayStyles.
How to score more Trivela shots
The Trivela becomes easier to use when the player has enough space to set up the shot.
Try approaching the penalty area diagonally rather than sprinting directly at the goalkeeper. This gives more time to position the player before activating the shot.
It is also useful to watch the goalkeeper before shooting. If the keeper is covering the near post, the far corner may provide more space for the curved trajectory. If the goalkeeper moves toward the far side, the near corner can become the available target.
Avoid forcing the shot when a defender is directly in front of the player. A blocked attempt can be less effective than taking an extra touch to create the necessary angle.
Trivela vs. finesse shot
The Trivela and finesse shot are different shooting techniques and use different modifiers.

The Trivela uses the outside of the foot, while the finesse shot uses the finesse modifier.
Can you combine a Trivela with a Low Driven Shot?
Yes. FC 27 allows Low Driven to be added to several shot types, including the Trivela.
After setting the shot power, press the shooting button again to activate the Low Driven modifier. On PlayStation, this means using L2 + Circle for the Trivela and then pressing Circle again. On Xbox, use LT + B, followed by another B input.
This creates a lower outside-foot attempt and can be useful when a low trajectory is preferable.
