WhatsApp has become an essential messaging app that one simply cannot do without anymore. While this app initially started as an instant messenger app, the positive user response encouraged the call and video features to be included in this app eventually.

The integration of these features is great for all of us, no doubt, however, the quality and strength of the call depends on your server strength and network provider assurance. This is probably one of the major reasons why you’re not able to enjoy a seamless calling experience. But there are ways around this problem too. Here are a few solutions to improve your WhatsApp call quality.

How to improve WhatsApp call quality

We suggest trying out the following methods if your WhatsApp calls are disconnecting and reconnecting repeatedly or even if you’re not able to get a decent resolution when you’re on call.

Activate Low Data Usage

WhatsApp has provided a minor solution to the poor call quality problem in the App’s settings. All you need to do is activate Low Data Usage for a better calling experience.

  • Follow this path once you’re in the WhatsApp app: Settings → Data and Storage usage → Enable Low Data Usage from Call Settings.

Enable VoLTE from network settings

You can enable VoLTE from your phone’s network settings, doing this will enable your phone to deliver better call quality because it uses a fast connection to do so.

  • From your phone’s Settings, go to Sim cards and mobile networks → Sim → Tap on VoLTE enabled

Switch to power saving mode

Power saving mode is actually meant to conserve the battery life of your phone by limiting background processes. It limits the CPU performance which inadvertently reduces the data being consumed by these apps. So most of your data is driven towards the app that is currently being used by you. In this case, it will be WhatsApp.

  • Open the quick toggles menu and tap on Battery Saver mode to activate it.

OR

  • Go to the Settings panel on your phone and follow this path: Battery and storage → Battery → Power saving mode → Activate Switch → Start power saving

Avoid peak data consumption hours

Peak data consumption hours are usually during the day when data is being consumed by a lot of people who use the same data network or internet provider’s services as you. This is one of the major reasons for reduced quality during a WhatsApp call.

Also, while you may be comfortable on your Wi-fi the person on the other side may be struggling with peak consumption hours which will affect your call anyway. So it’s ideal to avoid these hours and try calling at night when you can get access to more data.
