In Gothic 1 Remake, you get Okyl’s Axe by pushing Okyl off his ledge in the New Mine, then using the automatic save glitch (press F5 right after he falls) and reloading to loot his body before he wakes up.

How to Get Okyl’s Axe
Step 1: Talk to Mordrag
Before heading to the New Mine, you must talk to Mordrag. He clears the route for you from the Old Camp all way to the New Camp location. If you haven’t talked to him yet, complete his quest first.

Step 2: Follow the Route to New Camp
From the Old Camp, travel to the New Camp using the route Mordrag cleared.

Once you arrive at New Camp, you’ll need to enter the mountain to reach the New Mine.
Step 3: Enter the New Mine
Inside the mountain, follow the path until you reach the New Mine.

This is where Okyl is located.
Step 4: Find Okyl
Go down into the New Mine and locate Okyl. He’s positioned on an elevated ledge.

Step 5: Knock Okyl Down & Use the Auto-Save Glitch
This is the critical part:
-
Save your progress first (manual save recommended).
-
Attack Okyl and knock him down so he falls from his position.

-
Immediately press F5 (automatic save on PC) right after he falls.

-
Reload the automatic save file you just created.

-
Rush down quickly to loot his body before he wakes up.

Why this glitch works: Normally, Okyl stands back up and you can’t loot his body. But with the auto-save glitch, when you reload, he stays knocked out from the fall, allowing you to loot.
Step 6: Loot Okyl’s Axe
Once you reach his body, loot Okyl’s Axe. You can use it once you have the required strength, but it’s better to sell it to any merchant for 1,000 ore.
Critical Mistakes to Avoid
-
Don’t skip talking to Mordrag – without him clearing the route, you won’t reach New Camp easily.
-
Don’t try to loot without the auto-save glitch – Okyl will stand back up and you won’t be able to loot.
-
Don’t sell in Chapter 1 – merchants in Chapter 1 don’t have 1,000 ore to buy it; wait until Chapter 2+.
-
Don’t rush too slowly after reloading – Okyl will wake up if you’re not quick enough.
-
Make sure you press F5 immediately after he falls – timing is critical for the glitch to work.
Getting Okyl’s Axe this way is one of the best early-game ore farming methods in Gothic 1 Remake, giving you a massive 1,000 ore boost starting Chapter 2.
