Hyrule Warriors; Age of Calamity was just released by Nintendo and it sheds some much-needed light on the past events of Breath of the Wild. The game comes with a lot of improvements to your traditional in-game mechanics and even features some much sought after unlockable characters.
One of the most sought after characters in the roster is Link’s all-time nemesis, Calamity Ganon. If you too are looking to play as Calamity Ganon in Hyrule Warriors then let’s take a look at how you can do so.

Required
- Story mode completed
- Terrako Repair completed
- First 7 Challenges completed
It goes without saying but you will need to complete the story mode first to be able to unlock Calamity Ganon. Additionally, you will also have to unlock the secret ending where Terrako (Egg guardian) is repaired in the end. Terrako can be repaired after the story mode is completed by collecting Terrako Components around the world.
This will also unlock Terrako as a playable character for you.
Terrako components can be found in dedicated Terrako side puzzles. Completing these puzzles will reward you with Terrako Components. Additionally, you will also be able to get Terrako Components from certain remaining world quests that will become available after the end of the story.
Additionally, the final prerequisite to get Calamity Ganon is the in-game challenge menu where you will have to complete the first 7 challenges to be able to access the 8th one which helps you unlock Calamity Ganon as a playable character.
How to unlock Calamity Ganon
Launch Hyrule Warriors and navigate to ‘Challenges’ from the pause menu.
Now scroll down and select the 8th challenge ie: “Recommended Level Lv.71-Lv.80”.
This will unlock the “Versus Calamity Ganon” challenge. Press ‘X’ on your Joycons for Battle info.
Now select ‘Onward’ to start the battle.
You will now be given 10 minutes to defeat all the enemies that appear before you. You will face the following enemies during this challenge.
- Astor
- Harbinger Ganon
- Calamity Ganon
Once you defeat Calamity Ganon the challenge will be completed and you will be rewarded with a lot of rare items. Once you have added them to your inventory, a cutscene will ensue which will unlock Calamity Ganon as a playable character for you.
You will now be required to complete Calamity Ganon’s training that will help you get familiar with his moves and fighting style. You will face a hoard of enemies during this tutorial which will include the following enemies.
- Black Moblins
- Black Moblin Boss
- Silver Moblins
- Silver Moblin Boss
Defeating all these enemies will complete the tutorial and you can now play as Calamity Ganon whenever you like.
