How to Get Ava’s Accumulator in RuneScape Dragonwilds: Requirements and Uses

Ava’s Accumulator is a backpack that equips in your usual cape slot. You’ll find its quest in a roughly mid-game area, with a component hunt taking you through the highlands and into poisonous swamp terrain.

Animal Magnetism is an intermediate quest built around gathering components, with no boss fight required.

Find Manktongue’s ruin

Head to the southwest border of the Fractured Plains, immediately north of Whispering Swamp, and look for a ruined stone building occupied by goblins. Manktongue is inside.

Accept Manktongue’s request

Speak to Manktongue and select Ask about Animal Magnetism, followed by Sure.

Read the Advert-in-a-Bottle

On the small round table beside him, interact with the Advert-in-a-Bottle, then complete his dialogue to receive directions for the components. The advert asks for an Undead Chicken, a Magnetised Iron Bar and an Undead Twig Bundle.

Collect the Undead Chicken

Head to Stormtouched Highlands and search the rocks along the cliffside near the iron ore nodes. Attached to the cliff wall is the glowing Undead Chicken; interact with it to collect it.

Brew protection for Bloodblight Swamp

Before entering the poisonous swamp, return to camp and make a Weak Antipoison Potion at your Brewing Cauldron using 1 Vial of Water, 1 Marrentill and 1 Redberries. Drinking it removes poison and grants poison resistance for two minutes, helping with the area’s ongoing poison damage.

Find the Undead Tree

Travel southeast to Bloodblight Swamp, on the right-hand side of the map, and look for the enormous glowing red Undead Tree. Its crystal-like appearance and surrounding green poison mist mark the location.

Take the Undead Twig Bundle

Walk around the tree until its Interact prompt appears, then use that interaction to collect the Undead Twig Bundle. The quest item comes from interacting with the tree.

Prepare the iron

Gather Iron Ore in Stormtouched Highlands, then return to your base and smelt it in a furnace. You’ll use the resulting Iron Bar for the magnet.

Gather Law Runes

Set aside Law Runes from your teleportation supplies for the magnet. If you need more, obtain them from the rune vent near the starting area.

Reach Pulpknuckle’s workbench

Return to Manktongue’s ruin in the Fractured Plains and reach the rooftop by climbing the exterior stairs. The other goblin, Pulpknuckle, is stationed at the workbench.

Obtain the Magnetised Iron Bar

Speak to Pulpknuckle and hand over the magnet materials to receive the Magnetised Iron Bar.

Finish Manktongue’s contraption

Return downstairs to Manktongue, finish his dialogue and select Sure to hand over the quest components. The Quest Complete notification marks the finish: you receive Ava’s Accumulator and its crafting recipe.

Equip the backpack and a bow

Equip Ava’s Accumulator from your inventory, then equip your bow to use the backpack’s ammunition-recovery effects during ranged combat.

How Ava’s Accumulator works with bows

Once equipped, the backpack sits on your character’s back and helps preserve the ammunition your bow consumes. Successful recovery saves an arrow, while automatic pickup collects recovered ranged ammunition from farther away, reducing the need to gather it manually. Recovery is chance-based, so every shot won’t return an arrow.

The Accumulator’s recovery bonus stacks with your Ranged skill’s innate Ammo Recovery Chance, which increases as that skill levels up. Its listed bonus is an addition to that chance, not your total recovery rate. The backpack also counts as armor and provides defense against melee, ranged and magic attacks.

Craft replacements and restore automatic arrow collection

After the quest, you can make additional copies at the Armour Bench at your base. Its Capes/Backpacks category contains Ava’s Accumulator, with the crafting requirements and equipment stats displayed together. Each craft produces one Accumulator.

When you’re using the backpack, automatic arrow pickup operates within its collection range. If it’s equipped but arrows aren’t being collected, the pickup setting is the next thing to check.
