To unstuck a beached boat in How to Fish, get off the controls, equip your fists, and left-click the boat from the corners until it slides back into the water.
Beaching your boat on a shore is one of the easiest ways to get stranded between islands, and the panic move — flooring the throttle — does nothing once the hull is sitting on land. The fix is physical: you climb off, punch the boat with your bare hands, and shove it back into the water yourself. Here’s exactly how to do it.
When your boat is beached and won’t drive

You’ll know you’re beached when the boat is sitting half on the sand or wedged against the edge of an island, and the steering wheel and throttle produce no movement at all. Turning and accelerating do nothing here, because the hull is physically resting on terrain instead of floating.
Key That’s the exact situation this fix is for — a boat that’s driveable but stuck in place, not one you’re still trying to earn.
How to push your stuck boat back into the water in How to Fish
Freeing the boat takes nothing but your fists and a little patience — leave the driver’s seat and push the hull back to open water.
STEP 1/5
Get off the controls

The wheel and throttle do nothing on a beached hull, so leave the driver’s seat and step onto the shore.
STEP 2/5
Equip your bare fists

Switch to your fists and stand right up against the side of the boat on land.
STEP 3/5
Left-click to shove the hull

Repeatedly Left-click into the boat to punch it toward the water — it moves a little with each hit.
STEP 4/5
Keep pushing until it floats

Don’t stop until the whole hull is off the sand and sitting in the water.
STEP 5/5
Climb back on and drive off

Once it’s floating freely, board the boat and take the wheel again.

Push it out faster with leverage and teammates
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Boat barely moves per hit | Punch a corner of the hull instead of the flat side for better leverage. |
| Solo pushing feels slow | Have teammates push the same boat at once to stack the force. |
| Hull still scraping land | Keep hitting it until the boat is fully floating before you board. |
In co-op, get every teammate punching the same corner of the hull at once — it’s by far the fastest way to break a bad beaching.
The locked-boat problem is a different fix
There’s a second issue people also call a “stuck boat,” and it’s worth separating. If your boat has never worked at all — you can’t drive it in the first place — you haven’t been beached, you just haven’t unlocked it yet. The starting boat stays locked until you finish the Lighthouse Keeper’s Who Stole My Beer quest: beat the spider crab, hand over its Spider Crab Shell, and you’ll get the boat key. That’s a progression gate, not a physics problem, and the punching trick above won’t help with it.
