What butchering does to a Pal

When you butcher a Pal, that Pal is removed permanently from your roster and Palbox. The game turns it into the same kind of loot it normally drops when defeated in the wild.

That makes butchering useful for farming materials, food, souls, schematics, and late-game resources. It is not the option you use when you want gold.

How to butcher a Pal in Palworld 1.0

Put the Pal in your active party

Move the Pal out of the Palbox and into your party so it can be summoned.

Summon the Pal

Throw out the Pal you want to butcher.

Equip the Meat Cleaver

Hold the Meat Cleaver on your character before opening the Pal command wheel.

Open the command wheel

With the cleaver equipped, the usual Pet command changes to Butcher.

Select Butcher

Choose Butcher to kill the Pal and remove it from your collection.

Collect the drops

Pick up the materials the Pal leaves behind.

Bulk butchering with the Pal Dismantling Line

The late-game dismantling structure is for players who want to process Pals in volume without opening the command wheel for every single one. You still have to load Pals into it, and each Pal you process is destroyed permanently.

Treat it as a farming convenience. It changes the workflow from manual cleaver use to bulk processing, but the reward type stays the same: you are converting Pals into their drops.

Breeding Service-Minded onto butcher targets

Service-Minded is a passive skill added in Palworld 1.0 with the effect Dropped items +50% on the Pal carrying it. It does not act like a party-wide farming aura; the useful part is putting it on the specific Pal you plan to butcher.

The high-level loop is simple: get Service-Minded on a Pal, breed it onto a species with valuable drops, then butcher the offspring manually or feed them through the dismantling line. The exact stacking math beyond that +50% effect is not worth building a route around unless your own save proves it.

Butchering, selling, and condensing compared

Unwanted Pals have three different exits, and each one pays out in a different way. Pick the option based on what you need right now, because butchering a Pal when you meant to make money is the expensive mistake.

If the Pal has rare passives, combat value, work value, or sentimental value, condensing or keeping it is usually the better call. Butchering is strongest when the Pal is replaceable and the drop is the whole point.

Mount timing glitch warning

A mount-timing loot glitch exists in early 1.0 player testing: start butchering a mountable Pal, press Mount at the right moment, then repeat after recalling the Pal. Because glitches can change with hotfixes, use normal butchering and dismantling for reliable farming routes.
