Huawei has just launched the successor to its tablet lineup in the form of the Honor Play Pad 2. This new tablet is available for purchase at Huawei’s official Vmall oultet and comes in 8-inch and 9.6-inch variants. BTW, today, we also saw the launch of the Honor 6A in China, for the same price tag of 799 Yuan.
Both the variants of Honor Play Pad 2 are further split into LTE and WiFi variants. The former 8-inch variant of the Honor Play Pad 2 is retailing at ¥799 or $115, while 9.6-inch carries a price tag of ¥999, or $145. These are some seriously affordable rates when it comes to a Huawei tablet.
Coming to the internals of the Honor Play Pad 2, both variants of the tablet run on the power efficient quad-core Snapdragon 425 chipset. Both the 8-inch and 9.6-inch variants also come in 2GB RAM/16GB storage and 3GB RAM/32GB storage options. Storage is also expandable via microSD to 128GB.
The tablets run on EMUI 5.1 which sits on top of Android 7.0 Nougat. Since this is an entry-level tablet, the resolution stays at 1280 x 800 which sightly lowers the pixel density. But would anyone really complain about that at this price range? To fit the budget, Huawei has also included a 5MP rear shooter and a 2MP front facing camera.

Normally, you would expect the 9.6-inch variant of the Honor Play Pad 2 to feature a larger battery pack, but Huawei has packed in the same 4800mAh battery for both variants. Huawei seems to be keen on targeting the lower end market this year by launching these devices at attractive rates.
