An update carrying the Face Unlock feature for the Honor 7X isn’t exactly anything new, but for the users in the US, it certainly is. Those in the state using their Honor 7X on Oreo — under beta testing, that is, as the stable release is yet to begin — would soon see an OTA hitting their devices, carrying the Face Unlock feature to their cheap but solid handset.
Huawei didn’t reveal when the Face Unlock feature will be made available for the non-beta users, but we have a feeling it will be part of the public release of Oreo update for the device in the US.
The update is being rolled out to Honor 7X model no. BND-L24, while the build no. of the update is D3. Other than packing in the treat to unlock your device by just looking at it, the D3 update also brings latest security patches and bugfixes for the system.
It’s not much really, because we were actually hoping for the release of the stable version of the Android 8.0 as it was promised this month. But anyway, we’ll happily take this one, too.
