Sony has announced on their blog that the Xperia T is HD Voice-certified, a GSMA accreditation that means that your voice will go across clearly to the other side in even noisy environments. Now we know why Mr. Bond decided to take the Xperia T along on his next spy adventure. Nothing better than being able to sound loud and clear with guns firing and explosions taking place in the background.

HD Voice results in high quality speech compared to normal voice technology, as it is able to more accurately sample the human voice frequency. In Sony’s words, “HD Voice differentiates mobile devices by voice call quality; the human voice is replicated down to a tee, creating a quality aural experience that is vastly improved from what we have encountered previously with both mobile and traditional fixed line telephony. It’s almost like a whisper in your ear, you feel closer to the person you are talking to.”

You can listen to an audio demo at the GSMA website, which demonstrates the difference HD Voice makes, and Sony also promises a more technical look at HD Voice in the near future. In short, judging by the demo, HD Voice makes quite a bit of difference, meaning the Sony Xperia T will be able to perform the most basic of phone functions quite admirably.
