Google Sheets adds code for Projects that can include Calendar events, Chat spaces, and emails as sources.
The new UI also supports editable project details and imports skill titles, descriptions, and instructions.
We found these references in unreleased Projects code inside Google Sheets v1.26.381.03.90.

Google has already publicly documented the broader Projects capability in Drive, where projects can group Workspace sources such as files, folders, and emails. Now, a teardown of Google Sheets v1.26.381.03.90 reveals additional pieces that have not appeared in that public description.

The new code covers loading and editing Projects, identifying Calendar and Chat sources, defining a project purpose, and importing several parts of a skill. The strings appear within, or are shared with, the Google Sheets surface.

About APK teardowns — An APK teardown examines code included in a beta or otherwise unreleased app build. It can reveal features under development before their public release, but those features may change, remain hidden behind a server-side flag, or be abandoned.

Projects can pull context from Calendar and Chat

Google Sheets v1.26.381.03.90 identifies Calendar events and Chat spaces as distinct source types alongside email. It also includes owner labels for Calendar and Chat, plus fallback labels for email and unknown sources.

Together, these references point to Projects collecting material from more parts of Google Workspace than the publicly described file, folder, and email grouping. A Calendar event or Chat space could therefore become working context inside a user-created project, although the code does not establish when this expansion will become available.

The same build contains empty and error states for a project document list. Users can encounter a project with no items, while separate text handles a project that fails to load.

Projects get an editable purpose and skill imports

The Projects interface also includes a details page with an Edit action and a fallback message reading “No project purpose.” This points to each project having an editable purpose that can explain what it is meant to accomplish or guide how its collected sources are used.

Separate progress messages show the app importing a skill title, adding its description, and bringing over its instructions. The strings establish that all three fields are handled during an import, but they do not identify where skills originate or how they affect a project after import.

One additional message references generating an email draft, connecting the emerging project work with a Gmail-related action without revealing its full workflow.

These additions extend the already-public Projects concept with richer Workspace sources, an editable purpose, and transferable skill information. The new pieces are not available to users yet, and we will watch future Google Sheets builds for their rollout.
