What to know

  • Google Search’s AI Mode is adding a Library for images and other items you create.
  • The new surface includes a dedicated “Create image” action and collects AI Mode creations in one place.
  • We found the dormant code in Google app v17.70.10.sa.arm64, but could not surface the unreleased feature in the app yet.

Google Search’s AI Mode already offers the broader ability to create images. Now, code in Google app v17.70.10.sa.arm64 shows Google is building a dedicated Library where you can start a new image and return to images or other items you previously created in AI Mode.

We found the new Library strings while examining the build. The wording lays out the surface clearly, although we could not surface it in the app yet.

About APK teardowns — An APK teardown works by reading the not-yet-shipped code inside a beta build, which lets us preview features a developer is working on before they’re announced. But work-in-progress code can change, stay hidden behind a server-side flag, or be scrapped before it ever reaches your phone.

AI Mode is getting a Library for your creations

The clearest addition is a new AI Mode navigation destination named “Library.” Its accompanying empty-state message says that images and other items created in AI Mode will appear there.

That wording indicates the Library is not limited to image generation alone. It is being prepared as a collection for multiple kinds of AI Mode creations, giving you a place to revisit output instead of leaving each item tied only to the search or session in which it was made.

The new strings, seen below, point to the Library title, its creation shortcut, and the message users will encounter before they have saved any creations:

searchapp_aim_lhs_library_title = "Library"
searchapp_aim_lhs_library_create_image_button_text = "Create image"
searchapp_aim_lhs_library_empty_state_text = "Images and other items you create in AI Mode will show up here"

The Library also starts with a Create image action

The “Create image” button makes the Library more than a passive archive. Google is designing it as both a destination for browsing previous creations and a starting point for making a new image in AI Mode.

The empty-state text further clarifies the intended flow: once you create images or other items, they will populate this Library. That should make generated material easier to find again without requiring you to remember the original AI Mode search that produced it.

The broader image-creation capability is already public, but this dedicated AI Mode Library, its “Create image” action, and the promise that other created items will collect there are the new findings in this build.

The AI Mode Library is not available to users yet, and we’ll watch future Google app builds for signs of its rollout.
