Google Play Music updated with gapless playback and a few new features

Google is on a mission to make sure that they keep improving basic apps in Android, including the Calendar app which recently appeared on the Play Store despite being a system app, and now they have given the Play Music app a feature update as well.

The most important new feature is perhaps the support for gapless playback, which should ensure your songs keep running without interruptions, and without any pauses as one song finishes and another starts. Another feature is the ability to make playlists based on songs that you have given a Thumbs Up, as well as for last added, free, and purchased music.

Here’s the complete list of new features:

  • Added ability to keep Thumbs Up, Last Added, and Free and Purchased playlists on device.
  • Auto-generated Instant Mixes on Recent tab based on your favorite songs.
  • Gapless playback support (on devices with Android 4.1 or later)
  • Improvements for keeping music on your device for offline playback.

All in all a major and quite useful update, so make sure you update to the new version, either from the Play Store on your device or by visiting the source link below.
