When Google Pixel and Pixel XL, produced by HTC, were launched last year, they were formerly referred by the code name S1 and M1 respectively. So other than having the code name of ‘Walleye’, and ‘Taimen’ for this year’s Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2, they could also be referred as S2 and M2.
Just a few days back we reported that Taimen or M2 or Pixel XL 2 will be produced by LG and not HTC. However, according to a new report from Japan, it looks like HTC will continue producing Pixel XL 2.
We say this because there are references made to the upcoming Pixel phones, S2 and M2 inside the system files of the recently launched flagship phone from HTC, HTC U11.

According to the report, the system files of the HTC U11 reveal the following information:
- OCEAN_WHL
- OCEAN_UL
- OCEAN_DUGL
- OCEAN_DTWL
- OCEAN_UHL
- OCEAN_UHL_JAPAN
- OCEAN_A
- S2
- M2
However, the listing could be old, which means our previous report regarding LG would produce Pixel XL 2 still stands.
But, another possibility could also be true. What we mean is both the upcoming Pixel devices could be produced by HTC only.
All we can do is wait until Google announces the Pixel devices in the coming months. Ah! Don’t be sad. Of course, we would come face to face with more leaks about the devices.
