Google Photos is preparing to suggest stories for your videos and handle the editing that follows. New strings in our teardown describe a workflow that generates ideas about a topic, then creates a video with custom title cards, subject-focused cropping and an arranged story timeline.
The broader capability is already public. Google has documented Highlight video suggestions based on search queries and announced video templates. These new messages outline a specific story-proposal stage connected to automatic video assembly.
Video ideas come before automatic creation
The proposal messages distinguish coming up with ideas from creating the video. One reads “Creating video ideas about %1$s…”, with a placeholder for the query’s subject. Another reads “Auto-create a video about…”. Together, they describe a flow from topic-based proposals into automatic creation.
Photos describes designing title cards and arranging the story
The creation-stage messages explain what the app is preparing to do with that idea: crop around the subjects, design custom title cards, arrange the story timeline and trim footage to focus on the action.
The title-card wording specifically describes Photos designing the cards. It does not establish which design controls, if any, you would get yourself.
