October 08, 2016: Google released the new build (NBD90W) recently, and because it was released only after Google confirmed that the issue stands fixed, and will be part of next update, we thought the WiFi drop won’t occur on NBD90W. But, it seems that the issue is still persisting for many users. Though, the good news is that there is a separate fix already available, that you can use right now to solve the WiFi problem on your Nexus 5X (Or Nexus 6P, any device). For that, go to our Nexus WiFi problems fixes page, and look for the solution ‘Reset network settings‘.
Original Article: This is great news for Nexus 5X users who were horribly upset over their Wi-Fi connection dropping the signal randomly, and repeatedly. Many 5X users have complained about the issue, and we provided some Nougat Wi-Fi fixes of our own too, but now that Android team has fixed it, it’s a big relief for users.
If you visit the Android Issue tracker thread here, you will see that the issue is now assigned ‘FutureRelease‘. Which basically means that the fix is ready with Android team, and they will rolling it out as part of next update, which could possibly be the Android 7.1 itself, build NDE63H.
Let’s hope Google fixes issues with Bluetooth and random reboots resulting into device getting stuck at Google splash screen, both of which as sadly more widespread than Wi-Fi drop.
With the cool update Android Nougat is, it’s sad to see it bring a backpack of issues with it, especially on nexus devices like 6P and 5X.
What do you think?
And BTW, did we tell you that Android O could see inclusion of some developer options as part of Quick Settings tiles?
