What to know
- Gemini’s memory-topic interface is adding a Related chats entry and bottom sheet.
- The view connects a generated topic summary with conversations relevant to that topic.
- The dormant strings appear in the unreleased Google app v17.70.10.sa.arm64, but we could not surface the interface.
Google already publicly documents Gemini’s ability to use information from past chats. Its support documentation also explains that you can ask about previous conversations by topic or timeframe. That broader memory capability is not new.
Now, a teardown of Google app v17.70.10.sa.arm64 shows how Gemini may organize that information inside its existing memory-topic interface. The build adds a Related chats menu entry and a matching bottom sheet, alongside further evidence that Gemini generates a summary for each topic.
The memory-topic interface itself has been present in the Google app’s code since October 2, 2026, when it appeared in v17.63.17.ve.arm. Existing strings describe a Topic screen with its own history and editing controls, so this is an update to that feature rather than a newly started project.
The latest build adds two load-bearing references: a Related chats item within the topic menu and a Related chats title for a bottom sheet. Together, the strings point to a dedicated place for opening the conversations associated with a particular memory topic.
Each memory topic includes a generated summary
The older resources show that Gemini’s topic interface reviews stored memories and summarizes the highlights into a topic that the user can edit. Google app v17.70.10.sa.arm64 adds an error message specifically for failures while generating that summary.
That new message ties the summary process to the existing topic interface, while the Related chats strings provide a separate route to the underlying conversations. In practical terms, the code describes a topic-level overview with its related chat threads available from the same interface.
We could not surface the Related chats interface in the app, and it is not available to users yet. We’ll watch future Google app builds for signs of its rollout.
