Glossy Black Galaxy S7 Edge gets release date, and a proper name in Black Pearl

It’s been two weeks since images of the glossy black Galaxy S7 Edge were leaked and now Samsung has officially announced this unique color variant today with the moniker of Black Pearl.

The Black Pearl S7 Edge comes only with the 128 GB option — which is also exclusive to it — and is priced 1.01 million won (that’s $864 approx.). In addition to this new Black Pearl color, Samsung offers the S7 Edge and S7 in White, Silver, Gold, Black Onyx and Coral Blue. The Black Pearl S7 Edge goes up for sale starting December 9th in Korea.

The Coral Blue variant saw its release a few weeks back. For those of you wishing you had purchased the Coral Blue instead, there is DIY fix to get your device to sport this color through this Coral Blue Skin.

Samsung’s intention here is to position the Black Pearl and Black Onyx variants to compete directly with Apple’s Jet black and Matte black iPhone 7. This is especially true considering that Samsung is also offering the Black Pearl S7 Edge at 128 GB just like Apple is doing with the Jet Black iPhone 7.

The Galaxy S7 is nearing the official launch for Android 7.0 Nougat as Samsung has stopped accepting beta testers now. We can expect the update to release by the end of December this year. The Galaxy Note 5 too will be seeing the update to Nougat by January or early February of 2017.
