Your wait for an update to Gingerbread (Android 2.3) for your HTC desire family devices will be over in Q2 of this year. Going by what HTC said to SlashGear — the company’s Desire named sets — the Desire, Desire HD and Desire Z, along with Incredible S, will get an update of the latest and coolest version of Android. Here is the quote:

We are excited to announce that the Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S will receive the Gingerbread update in Q2.

With Nexus S the only phone with Gingerbread, it’s great to see HTC going forward with the updates in a timely manner and at the same time it has most definitely given other companies food for thought — Yep! we would like to hear about what’s up with Moto about Dorid 2 and Droid X.
