Gemini’s “Restyle” Could Change Styles, Show Progress, and Flag No Options [APK Teardown]

Google has already made Gemini image editing public, announcing the broader capability on April 30, 2025, before upgrading it on August 26. What is new here is a dedicated Restyle command within that existing media-editing toolkit.

Now, a teardown of Google app v17.61.19.sa.arm64 reveals the command alongside two UI states created specifically for the Restyling flow. We found the strings in the build but could not surface the feature in the app yet.

Gemini is getting a dedicated Restyle command

The clearest addition is a new command labeled “Restyle.” Its placement in Gemini’s media-editing resources identifies it as a distinct tool rather than a generic reference to image styling.

The command points to a more direct way to change the visual style of generated content from the existing editor. The broader ability to edit images with Gemini is not new; the addition in this build is the separately named Restyle tool.

The Restyling flow has its own progress and empty states

Google app v17.61.19.sa.arm64 also contains dedicated text for what happens after Restyle is selected. “Restyling…” provides a progress state while the operation is underway, tying the action to a specific editing flow.

A second string reads “No options available.” The wording shows that the Restyle interface accounts for a state in which it has no choices to present. The code does not reveal what those options are, how many could appear, or how they would be selected, so those details remain unknown.
