What to know
- Gemini is adding explicit Install and Uninstall controls for skills and apps.
- New Installed sections should make it easier to find and manage added tools.
- The controls appear in unreleased code from Google app v17.70.10.sa.arm64 and could not be surfaced in the app yet.
Gemini’s broader apps-and-skills management area is already public, but Google appears to be expanding it with clearer controls for managing what you add. New code points to installation and removal actions, Installed filters, detailed plugin pages, and a shortcut for trying a skill directly in a chat.
We found these additions while examining Google app v17.70.10.sa.arm64. Together, the strings outline a more complete management flow than the broader customization area already known publicly.
Gemini is getting Installed filters for skills and apps
The customization area is being divided into All and Installed sections for both skills and apps. That distinction should give you a direct way to view the tools associated with Gemini without searching through the complete catalog each time.
The new strings, seen below, point to the same filtering structure across both types of customization:
This is also where Gemini’s new management actions begin to appear. The skills menu now references both Install and Uninstall, indicating that skills can be added and removed from within the customization interface.
Detailed pages add installation controls and Try in chat
Selecting a plugin appears to open a dedicated details page with an Overview section and an option to show all of its skills. The page also includes its own Install and Uninstall actions, giving users another place to manage a plugin after opening its details.
Code in Google app v17.70.10.sa.arm64 references the following controls:
The Try in chat action suggests a direct handoff from a plugin’s details page into a Gemini conversation. Rather than only reading about an installed skill, you should be able to start using it from the same flow.
Apps receive their own management actions
The app side has matching Install and Uninstall labels, along with a separate Upgrade action. The strings establish that these controls are being prepared, though they do not explain what upgrading an app involves.
These controls are not available to users yet. We’ll watch future Google app builds for their rollout.
