Two 8.0″ tablets from Samsung are in the line to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update today, one of them being the Sprint Galaxy Tab E (model no. SM-T377P) while the other one is a global Galaxy Tab S2 (model no. SM-T617Y).
The software version for Sprint Tab E is T377PVPU1BPE6 while for the Tab S2, it’s T715YDXU2BPF5. The Tab S2 Marshmallow update is going on for the last two months actually, and we have seen many of them receive the update already, as per the regions, carriers and sizes.
Yesterday, the US Cellular Tab S2 graced the world of Marshmallow, while earlier, Tag S2 at Verizon, Sprint and in Turkey had received the Android 6.0 update. Earlier, the tablet was running on Android 5.0.2, so don’t be surprised at the sheer joy of Tab S2 user, if you run into one.
But even bigger news is the Android 6.0 update for Sprint Galaxy Tab E, the tablet equipped with sufficient 1.5GB RAM to run Marshmallow, which could be its last big update. Mainly because carriers are usually lazy when it comes to major updates for tablets.
As for the changelog, well, while we don’t have any info from Samsung about the Tab S2, Sprint has been kind enough to share the details with us. For Sprint Tab E, it’s Android 6.0.1 first and foremost, and then security patches from November 2015 to May 2016.
