Galaxy S8 to have 6GB RAM, not 8GB

The latest rumor regarding the Galaxy S8 is that it will come with 6GB of RAM and not 8GB of RAM as previously reported. Of course, this sort of thing will continue to happen till the device has been officially announced.

According to some previous rumors and leaks, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 specs were supposed to include massive 8GB of RAM. However, that always looked a bit our of sorts, and ow the latest tidbits flowing out of China has it that the Galaxy S8 will indeed come with 6GB of RAM, and an upgraded 256GB internal storage option.

Samsung’s last S smartphone, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, started with 32GB of storage and included a microSD card. If the company is planning on scraping the 32GB variant and starting with a 64GB model for the S8, then we may see the removal of the microSD slot. Why would anyone need external storage when there’s 128GB and 256GB of internal storage?

As for the RAM, anything can happen. Samsung did announce the world’s first 8GB LPDDR4 mobile RAM just last month. Also, it doesn’t mean that more RAM will make the smartphone any faster. Whatever the case, we will know all the details in a few months when Samsung announces the Galaxy S8 at MWC 2017.
