The Galaxy Note FE has gone on sale in South Korea starting today. Priced at 699,600 won, which roughly translates to US$606, this refurbished Galaxy Note 7 is an exclusive limited edition with only 400,000 units.
Available in four colors viz gold, silver, blue and black, the device is being sold through the country‘s three mobile carriers. Samsung unveiled Galaxy Note FE four days back.
The South Korean giant has opted for a lower battery of 3,200mAh in the refurbished edition instead of 3,400mAh used in the Galaxy Note 7 clearly to avoid explosion issues. In terms of design, the Galaxy Note 7 look has been retained in the FE (Fan Edition) of the Note. However, a ‘Fan Edition’ logo on the back has been included to differentiate it from the standard Note 7.
Some new features included in the Galaxy Note FE are improved S Pen and AI assistant Bixby, which was first seen in Galaxy S8/S8+ smartphones. Notably, the Note 7 FE will partially support the Bixby voice assistant, including Bixby Home and the Bixby Reminder. The S Pen with pen tip of 0.7mm and pressure of 4,096 steps can translate foreign words from simple text and images as well. The phone also includes Samsung Pass for biometric authentication technologies such as iris and fingerprint recognition.
