The news has come in that LineageOS ROM is now available on Galaxy Note 9, albeit unofficially. It is to be noted that it is not available for the Snapdragon-powered variants of the Note 9 sets but only some select Exynos variants like International (F), International Dual-SIM (DS), and Korean (N) models only.
This LineageOS ROM version 15.1 is now available but we would understand if you were hoping for the Android 9 based LineageOS 16 build already. LineageOS 15.1 is based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Install a custom ROM requires TWRP recovery. You can get the Galaxy Note 9 TWRP here, but know that installing TWRP will void the warranty of your device.
The ROM isn’t a stable build yet. Even though basic stuff like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Camera, Mobile network, USB, Audio, etc. are working with the ROM, stuff like Samsung Pay, KNOX, Iris scanner, VoLTE, VoWiFi, etc. isn’t supported — so, if you need those features, the ROM isn’t for you.
If your Galaxy Note 9 has Snapdragon 845 processor, know about its Android Pie update that’s under the works.

To the uninitiated, LineageOS is a free, open-sourced aftermarket firmware distribution Android project which finds contributions from people in the Android community. The OS can be used without having to install any app.
