Recently, we reported that OnePlus has started testing the OnePlus 3 Oreo update in the closed-beta group. Soon after that, there were reports that Samsung is working on Galaxy S8 and S8+ Android 8.0 update.

Now another report has surfaced that suggests Samsung will launch a beta program for the Oreo update soon. The good guys at Sammobile have come across new Oreo firmware versions for both devices with version number G950FXXE1ZQI7 and G955FXXU1ZQI7.

Apparently, the Z in the version number indicates it is a test firmware and often used for beta versions. Last year, too, Samsung launched a beta program for Android Nougat update on Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. The public release of Nougat was made eventually over the few months.

We could see the same process repeated for Galaxy S8 and S8+. Samsung may launch a beta version of Oreo for Galaxy S8/S8+ owners who are into beta testing and then release the public build in the coming months.

However, the exact time frame for either beta build or public build is currently unknown.
