The two year old Samsung Galaxy S5 is getting some new software courtesy of Verizon Wireless. No, don’t get your hopes high, it isn’t the Android Nougat update. That is not happening as far as we know.
Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 is now receiving a small software update with the latest Android security patch. Nothing more than other, apart from some bug fixes and improvements. The update takes the software version to G900VVRU2DPJ2. Verizon has also seeded updates for the Galaxy Note Edge, S6 Edge Plus and LG devices recently.
As mentioned in the beginning, the Galaxy S5 is old now and will not be getting any Nougat love. Other Samsung devices such as the latest Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will be receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update by the end of this month. The S6, S6 Edge and Note 5 are also in the pipeline for the updates.
The Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 software update is available over-the-air right now and should be installed in a few mins. Make sure the device is connected to a stable WiFi or cellular connection.
