Disable Smart Wi-Fi Switch on the Galaxy Note 8
Most of the Android phones have a setting known as Smart Wi-Fi Switch that makes your device look for better alternatives to your current network. You have guessed it right, it could be the reason for Wi-Fi issue on your Note 8.
To turn off this feature, follow the steps:

Check your router settings
Many times the Wi-Fi problem could be due to incompatible router settings. To resolve it, switch to 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz/auto in your router’s software settings.
While you are in router settings, you can try editing the broadcast channel of your router too. Sometimes changing the broadcast channel also fixes Wi-Fi issues on mobile devices.
Software update
Software issues from Samsung could also be the reason behind Wi-Fi issues on your device. If an update is available for your device, you should update it to the latest version. You can check for the updates manually by going into device Settings – About – Check for updates.
