You’ll need harpoon guns to catch Monstrous Cusk in Fisch. Once you’ve drawn it out, positioning and well-timed pulls matter. Keep your focus on filling the pulling minigame’s bar—that’s what completes the catch.
Find and prepare for a Monstrous Cusk Hunt
Your starting point is Gloomy Crevice, the green-lit area within The Deep. Equip diving gear before entering, and look near the bottom for Monstrous Cusk when its hunt spawns.
Hunts spawn naturally through Disturbance, with a listed spawn threshold of 1,000 Risk.
For a spawning setup, activate an Eclipse Totem before fishing in Gloomy Crevice with a high-disturbance rod. The totem increases the chance of a huntfish spawn, but doesn’t guarantee Monstrous Cusk.
Catching Faceless Cusk in the same area also contributes to awakening Monstrous Cusk. Plague Reaver, Boom Ball, Ignorous Rupturer, and Spirit Binder are fishing rods and cannot be caught as part of any sequence.
Each server has its own hunt, with one Monstrous Cusk available and only one active hunt at a time. The event lasts 10 minutes and ends automatically when the fish is caught. Any player can fire the initial harpoon shot or perform the later head shot that hooks it, so participation isn’t reserved for whoever draws it out.
